Rejuvinating Your Rooms

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to have a knack for creating inviting rooms?  One of the joys of owning your own home is having the freedom to decorate a room to please yourself.  The only problem is, sometimes we  don't even know where to start!  Today I am sharing with you some simple tips on re-arranging a room that can make the difference between “okay” and “wow!”

     1.   Before you start your room re-arrangement, first empty the room completely.  Take down all the wall  decor   and remove any rugs.  Now, look at the room as if you are seeing it for the first time.  Consider what activities you want to take place in the room.  Let form follow function.

2.   The number one mistake people make is to push all the furniture back against the walls of a den or living room.  This makes conversation difficult and creates a walkway through the middle of the conversation area.  Try pulling your furniture out into the room into a cozy grouping for conversation.  Experiment with placing the seating group at an angle instead of neatly lined up with the walls.  A rug and a coffee table can anchor the seating group so that it looks like it “belongs” in the center of the room.

3.   Instead of spreading out your wall hangings along the walls, try grouping several pieces together for stronger impact.  Also, it is easier to create “random” groupings than symmetrical designs, which require careful measuring and spacing.

4.   Now that your furniture isn't lining the walls you can add depth to your wall décor by creating three dimensional groupings.  If you have a grouping of pictures or accessories on the wall, try placing a small table or chest below them.  Dress the table top with two or three favorite objects of varying heights to add dimension.

5.   Make a dramatic impact by slip covering your old furniture.  At a fraction of the cost of new furniture you can extend the life of your old sofa and add a new color and texture to your room.

6.   Show off your collections!  Whether it's rocks, seashells, marbles or buttons, you can purchase inexpensive clear glass containers to show off these items on a coffee table or chest.

7.   Take advantage of your new arrangement to get rid of accessories you really don't like-that old lamp, the dried flower arrangement that is years past its prime, and the afghan that is picked, balled and knotted.  Less can be more!

Filling Big Shoes

As many of you know I have accepted the position of Office Team Leader for BHGRE Metro Brokers here in Hiram, Ga. The opportunity presented itself when our former Office Team Leader Feder Joseph ventured out on his own and started his own Real Estate company, Fed-Man Real Estate. I hated to see Feder leave, but I know he will do a bang up job.

If you have never met Feder you should make it a point to do so. He is really a great guy, husband and father to his children. Feder or as some of us called him Feder Joe was our office team leader for 3 years. In those three years he did an outstanding job. His meetings were not only fun, but they were informative and the information was timely and useful.  He made it a point to bring continuing education classes out to us so we did'nt always have to drive up to our corporate office to get those classes.  He would bring builders (yes there are some builders still out there) to tell about what they were doing and what kind of deals they were offering to the public. He brought in folks from RPAC to keep us informed on what was going on the local, state and federal level in regards to real estate. As a side note if you are a Realtor and are not involved with RPAC you need to get involved. This is your lively hood and there are way to many issues out there that can affect your career in a negative way.

As you can see those are some really big shoes to fill. When the idea of taking over for Feder was first presented to me, one of my first thoughts was can I measure up to him. Wrong question to ask. Its not about that at all. I am a big believer in finding out what someone does very well and duplicating it. So with that being said it makes sense to keep everything that Feder has done, and then try new and different things and make a mark that way.

For all the agents in the Paulding Office please know that I am here for you, and if you should need anything always feel free to ask.

If you know of anyone who is looking to buy or sell real estate please have them contact me at 404.843.2500, or thru my website www.metrobrokers.com/jeff.claeson or via email at jeff.claeson@metrobrokers.com

Opportunities

One of the great things about being a Realtor are all the different opportunities that can open up once you become involved. For example I am a memeber of the Paulding Board of Realtors here in Paulding County, Georgia. I started off as a general member, became a member of the RPAC committe then Chairman of that committe. Starting this month I will be the Treasurer of the board.

When I came to Metrobrokers I was just a Realtor just getting started and just finding my way. One of my goals was to get as much education as possible and to learn from other realtors who have been successful in the past. Thankfully such agents as John Baker, Mark Broyles, Jean Frost, Mike Scott, Steve Adkins, Feder Joseph, Sheree Newmeyer and so many others helped me along the way. I am truly blessed to have Stephanie Sellers as my office manager. Not only is she a STELLAR office manager she is also a great friend who keeps my paperwork straight. Now almost five years later I accepted the position of Office Team Leader.

Like I have said in the past "I love real estate and I love being a Realtor" If there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to contact me at 678.773.0906 or via email at jeff.claeson@metrobrokers.com or visit my website which is www.metrobrokers.com/jeff.claeson  Have a great day.

Best regards,

Jeff

A Note of Thanks

Hello to all.  In my first blog I touched on how I became a Realtor and I thanked those who have helped me along the way. In face I did not thank the two people who have been my biggest fans. My wife Ann and my son Daniel. Without their love and support there is no question that I would not have been able to make it thru the growing pains of being a rookie Realtor.

No question there was many a time when Ann must have been thinking to herself "What in the world was I thinking letting him become a Realtor" Some days I asked that question too, but with her love and support things worked themselves out. I am also blessed to have my son Daniel's love and support. He would always tell me "I am proud of you dad and I know you can do it"

A special thank you goes to my wonderful mother in law Mary Alice. About a year ago she passed away, but she was always so supportive and honestly she got more excited when I closed a deal than I did. She was always sweet and had a kind word for everyone. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her

Thank you Ann and Daniel for all your love and support. I owe both of you everything.

My First Post

Welcome to my very first blog. I was asking myself what should I write about and I thought that maybe I should tell you something about myself and how I got into real estate.

I got into real estate because when me and my wife Ann bought our home our experience with our realtor was less than satisfying. As soon as we had a binding agreement and she know she was getting her commission she was nowhere to be found. In fact the next and last time we saw her was at the closing table. Clearly there had to be a better way.

That led me to enroll in the GAMLS pre-license study course. It took 10-12 weeks to complete and then I sat for the State of Georgia exam. I was well prepared for it and passed it easily. Once that was done I placed my license with Metro Brokers. It was a pretty easy choice as Metro was the only brokerage that actually returned my phone call in a timely manner (Like The Same Day). I did call Remax, Century 21 and Prudential. It took Remax and C21 almost a week to get back with me and I never have heard from Prudential. Oh well so much for follow up.

I really do love everything there is about real estate. You have so many more good days as opposed to bad days and even the bad days are not that bad. I have been blessed to have been surrounded by many good people who have taken the time to show me what this business is really all about. Its truly about the wants, needs and desires of the client.

My goal is to help each person find a place that they can call home and I want them to love that place. When my clients are done working I want them excited when they go home. Please feel free to contact me Jeff Claeson at 404.843.2500 at any time or you can email me at jeff.claeson@metrobrokers.com . Please visit my website at www.metrobrokers.com/jeff.claeson
